The new National Patient Experience Survey that was launched by Minister for Health Simon Harris TD recently. This survey which commenced in public acute hospitals on May 1st, is the largest single survey of the healthcare system to be conducted in Ireland. With 40 hospitals participating nationally and an estimated 27,000 patients expected to be eligible to participate, the survey will assess patients' overall experience of their stay in hospital.
The Survey is a joint initiative by the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQUA), the Health Service Executive (HSE) and the Department of Health and all data collected will be used to shape future healthcare policy and improve health outcomes for patients.
